Inventory Discovery
270 inventory types across 38 connectors. Every governable object is discovered and cataloged automatically, including orphaned, forgotten, and shadow resources that other tools miss.
Inventory Discovery is Rencore's automatic enumeration of all governable resources across connected services. 270 inventory types span 38 connectors, Microsoft 365 sites, teams, channels, mailboxes, distribution lists, OneDrive accounts, plus Claude workspaces, n8n workflows, Confluence spaces, Jira projects, and the equivalent objects in every other connected service. No agents, no manual maintenance, no forgotten resources.
What “complete” means
Most governance tools inventory a subset, sites and teams but not channels; mailboxes but not redirect rules; workspaces but not API keys. The gaps are where governance violations hide. A tool that inventories sites but not their sharing links cannot detect oversharing. One that inventories Claude workspaces but not API keys cannot detect unrotated credentials.
Rencore’s 270 inventory types cover the surface area governance actually needs, not just the obvious objects but the relations, properties, and adjacent records that policies operate on.
How discovery runs
On initial connection, Rencore enumerates every inventory type for the connected service, a full discovery pass that builds the base inventory. From that point on, delta scanning maintains the inventory incrementally. New resources appear automatically; modifications are tracked; deletions are recorded with timestamps.
Beyond enumeration
Inventory is the data foundation; policies, reports, dashboards, and automations are what is built on top. A complete inventory enables policies that catch nuanced violations (e.g., “Claude users not linked to Entra ID who have admin role on workspaces older than 6 months”) that would be impossible without the cross-referenced object graph the inventory builds.
What you get with Rencore.
Complete coverage per connector
Each connector inventories what its target service exposes. Claude ships 11 inventory types covering organizations, workspaces, users, API keys, files, and more. SharePoint covers sites, libraries, lists, sharing links, permissions, and apps. n8n covers projects, workflows, credentials, executions.
Discovery includes orphaned objects
Resources with no active owner, abandoned workspaces, decommissioned-but-not-deleted assets, these get inventoried alongside actively-used resources. The platform sees everything; sprawl is not allowed to hide.
Identity-resolved where possible
Object ownership and audience are resolved to Entra ID identities where the source API supports it. A SharePoint site shared with "Marketing - EMEA" appears in governance with the resolved group membership, not just the group reference.
Foundation for custom entities
Native inventory covers what the connectors discover. Custom entities extend the foundation to objects no connector knows about, business applications, compliance artifacts, third-party records. Native and custom inventories participate in policies, segments, and reports together.
